Draenei Updates on my new Realm

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Given that, by now, almost all of my friends have started college or Uni, and no more hours at work are forthcoming atm, and job hunting has stalled, and my girlfriend is on the other side of the country… Theres been a LOT of time for WoW!

A little update on my status on the new server. I’ve joined a small guild with Kazura and an RL friend of hers (Yuanjia), who I’ve met a couple of times, but don’t really know well… if his WoW persona is anything to go by, he’s bloody hilarious, lmao. (More on that later). Another person who I know in RL (this time very well) is Kiaara, who is (or was, it’s difficult to tell if “groups” exist anymore given everyones split apart now :P ) in my main group of friends, and best friends with Kazura (who makes it her goal in life to corrupt everyone and make them play WoW /grin)

Anyway, I’ve been quite busy on my Draenei these past few days.

Firstly, Ellaria:

I’ve been busy on her, having reached level 21 (from level 14), and completing every quest on Bloodmyst. Given that my two main characters are located on Kalimdor, I’ve decided to level Ellaria from 21-29 in the Eastern Kingdoms. At the moment, she is in Redridge Mountains (Which I’d never seen before until I went to meet up with Kiaara there :P ), and I plan on moving her to Duskwood soon. Ghost Wolf is my favourite spell in ever, makes it so much less painful actually getting to these places I now take for granted to access easily Faulsey, with my mount and many flight paths.

The Water Totem quest was a minor annoyance, as unlike the last two it actually involved leaving the Isles, to go down to Ashenvale, and collect some water from an area that I’d die if I got aggro in. FUN!, haha.

I finished the “Ending Their World” quest in the Vector coil with the help of Kazura, with Jorafox (one of Kiaara’s -Kia Ora!- many characters.), allowing me to have a big party thrown for me in Bloodwatch, wear a sleek tabard, and get a shiny little ring that increases my chances to Shock enemies for very little mana. (I love my Shamanic Focus talent already, hehe.)

Just for the sake of randomness, here’s us dancing on a roof!

Fun times, fun times. :P

Faulsey:

Given that I am exactly one level higher than Kazura, we’ve done a few things together quest wise. Firstly, I helped her get up to date on the Muigin Un’goro quest line, which involved helping kill hordes of Bloodpetals and then a trip up to Feralas to locate a dwarf… And jump off the Collossals!

The first jump, we went off the side that has a sort of slope to it, and I hit the slope the very instant I tried to activate my parachute, realising I would die… but, alas, it was too late, so I splattered halfway up a huge piece of rock, and had to ressurect at the Graveyard.

Kazura survived, and we decided to go again. This time we jumped off a side with a sheer face, and, well… these screenshots speak for themselves, I believe.

Despite the death and the mega cost to repair all my items (first time I’ve broken 1g in one repair, lmao :P Not that expensive, but it felt it!), I had a lot of fun that night! XD

Tonight, we planned on continuing the Muigin quest chain by going to the Sunken Temple to get some Atal’ai Haze. The original scheme was to go in just by ourselves, but Yuanjia (65 Druid.), who was doing nothing else, ambushed us there, and came along to help… which was a very good thing, because it turns out all the Haze dropping enemies were guarded by about 5 level 46 enemies, that while non-elite, would probably have been the death of us.

Again, this led to a few fun moments, especially when Kazura decided we had to kill the boss that required the death of 6 minibosses to spawn, since she had a quest for him :P

Firstly, fighting Dragonkin, and unsure of our ability to take them, Yuanjia blasted into combat in the tried and tested manner of everyones favourite raider, Leeroy Jenkins!

Eventually, we became dab hands at fighting hordes of Dragons… until Kazura took aggro from a flock of Nightmare Whelps, which killed her, then moved onto me… Squish! :P

We gave up on the idea of fighting the boss fairly quickly though, as we didn’t have a clue what we were doing.

And Faulsey’s bit of randomness involves the moon… Kazura likes the moon symbol, it appears… XD

Ahh, I am really enjoying this new server :)

Firstly, saw Firewind live tonight, were bloody brilliant.

Secondly… Blog post! Lol :P

Was BG busy earlier this week, with an epic 4 win streak on Faulsey, which gave me a nice boost in marks for both WSG and AB, so I was able to get my Dagger and Boots, and thus finish with BGs on Faulsey.

Ilthiran is still earning marks for his items before he levels, and the Horde has been really pwning at BG’s recently :D

That was my first successful flag capture as Ilthiran. The alliance didn’t exactly make brilliant efforts on me, sending things like lone priests over to deal with me, lmao.

That was the second time I saw the horde get 5 bases on AB. The first time was as Faulsey, so we got totally pwnt. XD

I’ve been busy leveling Faulsey, who is now 51, after having done a few quests in Un’Goro and Felwood, including getting to Unfriendly with the Timbermaw, and half of the Linken questline, which took me to Winterspring for the first time (hence the need for Unfriendly with Timbermaw)

Given that Faulsey is meant for leveling, I’ve made myself another Alliance Character to have permanently at BG level; another Draenei, due to the fact that the only class I was interested in playing was Shaman, as cause it had to be an Ally, it had to be a Draenei too! This one is a female named Ellaria though.

However, instead of making her on my home realm, I decided to make her on Kazura’s, where it turns out another RL friend and an aquaintance play. From levels 7 to 14, we were in a big group, talking utter nonsense, it was an absolute riot.

I’m enjoying Shaman so far, as Totems are just cool :D The fire totem quest was so much better for Draenei than it was for my Troll (who I got to level 12 then dumped, lmao.)

Me being raped by a giant moonkin >.<;

Symbols are apparently gifted by the server. Yeah, like I believe Kaz’s bullshit XD

And he’s some of my favourite banter from the night… “ZOOOOOOOOOOOOMG! BEEEEAAAAAAAR UPPP!” totally killed me, I found it so funny :P

Given how much fun I was having on Dragonblight, and how few (Read, none, as I am terribly unsocial in WoW) friends I have on Azjol-Nerub, I’ve decided to move Faulsey to Dragonblight, with Kazura covering some of the transfer cost (I can afford it no problem, but it’s the principle of the thing… FIFTEEN QUID? :P )

It took all of 5 minutes after the firewind gig, and now Faulsey is securely on Dragonblight, and given I’m only one level higher than Kazura, we should hopefully be able to do some crazy stuff together! XD

One final note… PIRATE!

Of course…

There is a downside to BG’s…

The idiots.

The ones that take it SO seriously, that they will curse up a bloody storm just because you lost.

The most recent one, and one that prompted this small post, was our idiot Shaman in WSG.

After an extremely hard fought battle, where the alliance team proved it’s skill by maintaining a 2 – 1 lead against a team with a number of twinks for about half an hour, the tides finally turned in the last 10 minutes, and we lost. We might not have lost, however, had the Shaman been a bit more careful.

The Shaman had picked up the horde flag, and started to run out the horde base… Down the tunnel.

Meanwhile, the EFC was coming the same away, along with their mega retinue that had thwarted our every attempt to get the flag back.

The result? Shaman dies, loses flag, we lose the match.

Now, the OBVIOUS way to go would have be out down the ramp, given that the EFC was clearly incoming with a huge group, so the final blow to us that caused the loss was HIS fault.

And of course, guess who begins to swear up a storm in BG chat?

NOOBS
NOOBS
IDIOTS
FUCK YOU ALL.

Those lines courtesy of the Shaman that had lost the flag by taking the fastest route in/out of the base, and thus, the most logical route for EFC to take to get back in.

By now, I’m so used to losing at ANY game, I don’t give a hoot if I lose, I had fun anyway, but jeez, some people take it SO seriously, and have to ruin it for everyone else by throwing temper tantrums. And what especially annoys me is the cheek of some people to suggest that EVERYONE ELSE was at fault when it was CLEARLY themselves that were to blame?

Going to do (probably) 11 more WSGs on Faulsey (depending on win/lose ratio :P ), to get myself a shiny dagger, then I’m back to the grind, with the goal of getting to Outland.

Faulsey has been leveled to 49, and then some (more than 2/3 of the way to 50 now, thanks to getting Erethia to my level, and doing a few quests), in Un’Goro Crater, which is both the coolest and most irritating place I’ve leveled in. On the one hand, the wildlife is REALLY cool – huge raptors, pterodactyl type things, and of course, GIANT Devilsaurs! On the other hand, it can be a pain having to constantly dodge the Devilsaurs, and at some places, the concentration of mobs is overpowering.

Still pretty cool though.

Gave my talents a wee re-jig, because for some reason, I’d put 2 talents in endurance training (2% HP for me, 4% for pet.) instead of 2 into Improved Revive Pet (Cutting 40% mana and 6 secs off the cast time of a -currently- 1.1k and 10sec cast spell…), which is CLEARLY more useful. Also bypassed the focus regen improvement for now, instead opting for Improved Heal Pet, so Erethia now has nothing to complain about :P

Zomgs, an update?

As FFXI is out of commission at the moment, I’ve been reduced to playing WoW again.

Joys! :P

Kazura introduced me to BG’s recently, and bloody hell, are they fun!

I reached level 48 on Faulsey (then spent another half the level getting Erethia to the same level -.-), and Kaz convinced me to do a WSG. The first BG I ever did lasted a whopping hour and a half, though at the end of that time it was an Alliance loss.

Since then, I’ve been doing BGs on both Faulsey (48 Draenei Hunter, just to refresh :P ), and Ilthiran (who I took from 27 to 29, Tauren Druid.). Generally, it seems that horde win maybe a third of the battles I take part in as Ilthiran, and alliance win a quarter of the ones I do as Faulsey…

So I must really suck XD

But they are loads of fun :3

I’ve tried Arathi Basin a couple of times, and enjoyed it, though I like WSG due to it’s familiarity (basic capture the flag, woo!).

Also, me and Kaz have started working on our Blood Elves, Numinator, my Paladin, and Kazume, her Priest. So far, we’ve commited genocide against the humans of Hillsbrad, and I’ve reached 25, and Kazume is hot on my heels at 24.

Oddly, the game likes to mark some rather difficult quest as Yellow (which, at least on Faulsey, I always took to mean sort of Medium… then again, I do have Erethia, my uber tank as him :P ), such as two quests in the battle of Hillsbrad Line involving killing level 30′s… Which we did at 24 XD

Our plan for blood elves is to get them to 29, then go pwn on BG’s… it’s not impossible that we will level them past that, but it IS unlikely. We’re not going to be twinks, so much as pretty well geared. Kaz gets off lucky, able to keep to her holy spec, but I’ll probably have to respec to Retribution, which will throw me slightly, as I am rather used to my mega defence boosts :P

I plan on getting some of the gear from BGs for Faulsey and Ilthiran… it’s not really stellar outside of PVP, or so I’ve heard, but some of it is really nice, and since all it takes is time spent having fun to get it, instead of the horror of grinding, I see no reason why not to get a few pieces.
